Self-Care and Burnout

Many of us are feeling a sense of stress or burnout in the recent months. It is safe to say that we are living through history and things feel scary or really tough right now. The question is what are you doing to take care of you? I know, personally, it has been challenging trying to stay up-to-date with the news and balance self-care. I understand the desire to stay informed to give me a sense of control. But this can also tip the scales into those difficult feelings of depression or anxiety when you don't have boundaries or a sense of balance.


Here are some things I have found helpful:

  • Getting back into reading

  • Going to the gym

  • Connecting with friends

  • Attending outings I enjoy (concerts, group dinners, etc)

  • Mindfulness/Yoga

  • Finding content on social media that reminds me of the good things happening

  • Talking to someone who understands, and that I don't have to educate about what is happening

  • Beginning my journey as a plant parent
